Ik i'm answering this 2 years later but: it's not that the captains ignored that he wasn't related to the devil it's that the public needed a scape goat in order to prevent complete distrust in the magic knights and giving one person the opportunity to find the actual villain versus saying that multiple squads from multiple guilds all grouped together and became traitors who committed Genocide.

Yes it is unfair on Asta and the Captains know that (which is why they are helping him train as much as possible) but in order to keep whatever sense of order left in the public, they had to pin the blame on someone and that someone just so happened to be a boy who can at least looks half demon and is incredibly powerful without any mana (which, if you didn't know he had anti-magic powers, would be EXTREMELY suspicious).

Actually, no one from "Black Bulls" got any promotion, because of the issue/conflict with the "Magic Parliament" (since they barged in during Asta's Trial), which is why Yami was made to receive the Special Recognition Medal instead.

As the ranks don't really come up to confirm or deny, what he says after should specifically refer to the fact that they should have all received multiple promotions... He doesn't actually say that the Black Bulls didn't get the base promotion just that they should have got many more promotions, so without an actual listing of their ranks at different points of the story we have no way of really confirming either way

They could have acknowledged them and held the awards till the end of the trial instead of overlooking them completely. If they were proven guilty, they could just not give them the awards.

Announcing the awardees in the Black Bulls but not giving them awards (physically) is essentially the same as giving them awards anyway lol. That's not really good since the Black Bulls still have the issue with the Magic Parliament.

Awarding Magic Knights who are under suspicion of involvement with the Devil could bring harm to the general image of Magic Knights. I'm guessing that this awards would eventually be announced to public through some sort of way so yea.

I didn't mean that they should announce them as awardees to the public as the awards would end up being withheld anyway. I just meant that they could mention that the achievements of the Black Bulls were such and such to the other awardees, but since they're on trial, these awards will be withheld till they're proven guilty/innocent. It doesn't mean someone's guilty just because they're on trial for something, so it just seems unfair to not mention the possibility of each of them receiving an award if they're proven innocent. It's not like they can't award people being suspected for a crime at all since the Black Bulls did get some sort of compensatory award, but for Captain Yami alone.

I'm just basing it on what some universities do if someone was given an award for their achievements, but ended up being suspected for doing something wrong/against the university's policies. They don't pretend like those achievements were nothing (since they're not guilty until proven otherwise) and they withhold the awards until the investigation is over.

Oh,, if you're talking about that, there was something to that effect that the Wizard King's assistant (I forgot his name sorry) said @18:06. He said that if not for the current issues with the Magic Parliament, there are squads that would've seen many promotions. It's implied, but this statement was definitely referring to the Black Bulls, and I'm sure everyone in that room also knows which squad he was referring to.

So yea, they do recognize their efforts. I mean, not only that but they've also given a medal to Yami. I'm pretty sure that's proof enough that the Clover Kingdom really recognizes and appreciates the Black Bulls.
